Annual Event Results 2025

Summary of week
George Atterbury, this year's Captain, held his Annual Week Away in and around Bournemouth in Dorset from Sunday 7th until Saturday 13th September 2025. Thirty three members and guests stayed at the Connaught Hotel near Bournemouth town centre and were well positioned to enjoy the local attractions and restaurants. Overall we were very lucky with the weather, which was mainly sunny apart from some occasional heavy downpours.
After the welcoming drinks reception and dinner on Sunday evening, Monday was the 1st day of golf with a visit to Bramshaw Manor, which proved to be a gentle introduction to the week ahead. On Tuesday, we experienced Broadstone, a spectacular heathland course with wonderful views and a real test of golf. This was except for our Vice Captain, Simon Partridge, who had a hole in one on the 8th hole - and everyone enjoyed celebrating with him afterwards. Wednesday was a day off and everyone enjoyed the sights of the local area, with a few of our intrepid golfers fitting in a further round of golf at Isle of Purbeck. On Thursday, we visited Remedy Oaks, a newer course, cut through the woodland but very impressive with many ditches and water features. Unfortunately, a lot of drainage work had recently taken place which took away from the pristine condition of the course. Friday was our final day's golf and we spent it at Ferndown, a very traditional parkland/heather course which was presented in excellent condition - this would probably be the course that most enjoyed the best and would be our choice to play regularly. The week concluded with the final reception and dinner, which was followed by the presentation ceremony to all the worthy winners during the week. Winners are posted on Results below.
Our thanks go to all those involved in organising the week; James at Golf Par Excellence for all his work in putting the week together, Duncan for arranging restaurant bookings and Merv for all his planning and hard work. And finally, a massive THANK YOU to George for making it such a success.
The entire week was a great social event and shows the strength of our society and that the true friendship and enjoyment which it brings will keep us all ready for next year, which is being planned for Dinard in Northern France.
