George Atterbury's Captain's Day was held in beautiful conditions at Thorndon Park GC on Tuesday 13th April 2025, with an entry of 40 players. The course, despite repeated attempts by vandals, was in superb condition although the greens were a little on the slow side. The food was excellent and, as always, we were very well looked after by the staff. The course found quite a few of us struggling to score but at the end of the day, the Captain's Day trophy was won by Past Captain, Roger Head, with 40 points beating John Dornan by 2 points. The guests prize was won by local member, Robert Lee, with 36 points. Prizes were also awarded to nearest the pin on 2nd and 12th holes and to best front and back 9's.
Looking forward to our next competition at the Berkshire on 12th June, where we will play for our major trophy, the Gold Cup
