HGS first meeting of 2026 was held, as usual, at Woodhall Spa on 14th and 15th April 2026. We played the Bracken course on Tuesday and the Hotchkin course on Wednesday The 96th AGM was held on Wednesday at Woodhall Spa GC where Simon Partridge was installed as our Captain for 2026. A very pleasant evening was held at the Inn  at Woodhall Spa hotel on Tuesday evening,  where the current Captain and incoming Captain elect gave their speeches rather than at AGM. 

The 2 courses were very different with Bracken proving difficult with its tricky greens and Hotchkin difficult because of its length and difficulty, but both were in very good condition.

On Tuesday, the NFU Mutual Cup was won by Ian Low with a score of 37 points followed by Tony Campbell with a score of 36 points. Our guest's prize was won by John  Taverner with 34 points.

On Wednesday, nothing really changed as Ian Low won the Monro Cup with 38 points and Tony Campbell was second with 37 points, with the best guest again being John Taverner with 31 points.. The Past Captain's trophy was won by Tony Campbell with his score of 37 points.

Our next competition is Captain's Day at Frinton Links GC, where our Captain Simon Partridge is a member, on Thursday 14th May.
